OK, all my friends and family out there. I'm trying to decide if I should run a marathon this fall or not. The pros? It's on my bucket list (something I want to do before I die). I'm in really good shape right now. I can cross it off my list. Cons? It's hard on the body. The training is quite time-intensive. Sometimes I don't feel like running or training! It's hard!
Let me know what you think! Click on "comments" and give me your opinion. I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks!

Hey, I'm a Smith! I always have an opinion! If it were me, I would probably do it this fall, simply because you already are in such great shape. I mean, if you put it off, the training time will be even greater because first you'll have to get to the point you are at right now. Heck, if you can run to the Salt Lake Temple (more than a half marathon from your house - I mapped it), you can do a marathon. If you do end up doing it soon, which will you do? Good luck!
You've always wanted to run a marathon and you are in the exact physical condition you should be in to run one. You'll feel so good about yourself and: 1. either like that you did and but never need to do it again. or 2. realize this changed your life and become a marathoner. Either way, you'll want to discover which one it is. GO FOR IT!

I think you should run a marathon. I am unclear if you should do it this year. If you don't do it this summer then do it for sure do it next Fall (2009). I think you have time to get ready now, but much of running a marathon is mental. So getting ready for the marathon may take a little more time to get your brain around the idea.
I look forward to hearing everyone's response.
I think you should run a marathon. I think the key issue is when you run a marathon? I think you could be physically ready to run this year, but running a marathon is also very mental. If you want to take time to get mentally ready to run then run next year and if you are ready now then run this Fall.
I look forward to hearing everyone's responses.
Go for it, girl.
I cannot believe you ran to the temple first of all! Can I just say that YOU ARE AMAZING? I keep telling my hubby that maybe one day I will have energy like Monta. Anyway, at first I was thinking that you shouldn't run, because it is so hard on the body and I know you already have knee problems and maybe other issues too. But everyone else is right, you are in really great shape right now. So I think you should do it. Plus--your bucket list? Wouldn't it be nice to cross this off?

Monta, Are you out of your mind?? You should ask Bob about running marathons! He ruined his knees and he was quite unhealthy for a while after his last one. The training was horrible. But, hey, if it is on your "bucket list"--go for it! I would suggest the St. George Marathon--not the Deseret News one!
I am glad it is you and not me to run the marathon!!
